Prince Harry’s hopes of a part-time royal role have met a resolute stance from King Charles III, emphasizing the continuity of the late Queen’s principles.
The Duke of Sussex finds himself at odds with his elder brother, Prince William, and the future monarch as they advocate against an in-and-out approach to royal duties.
Royal author Tom Quinn shed light on this matter, revealing the dynamics between the royal family members. According to Quinn,
“The whole emphasis between King Charles and Prince William is that you cannot go against the late Queen’s firm belief that you can’t be a part-time royal.”
Quinn delved deeper into the sentiment shared by the current and future heads of the royal family. “You can’t hobnob with celebrities in America for six months and then come back here and pick and choose which events you want to be part of,” he remarked.
The author further explained that this stance is closely tied to Queen Elizabeth’s views.
“I don’t think Charles and William will agree to that simply because Elizabeth hated the idea,” Quinn concluded.
