The Princess of Wales Kate Middleton had a surprising and lighthearted moment during her recent visit to a Royal Naval Air Station. Here’s what happened:
Kate Middleton made her first public appearance since her husband, Prince William, departed for the US. All by herself, she stepped out in Somerset for a royal engagement.
Kate was in an unexpected situation during her visit to the Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS). She was wearing a lifejacket, which suddenly inflated, taking her by surprise.
The usually poised and composed Princess couldn’t help but burst into fits of giggles when the lifejacket inflated unexpectedly. It was an amusing and lighthearted moment during her visit.
Louise Evans-Hughes, a leading survival equipment technician at the station, had forewarned Kate about the lifejacket. She mentioned that sometimes there might be a bit of noise when the Velcro rips open. Kate experienced exactly that when she pulled it, causing the jacket to inflate.
Describing Kate’s reaction, the technician shared that it was quite a sight. The lifejacket turned out to be larger than expected, snugly fitting around Kate. The technician quickly released some air from the inflated jacket to ensure her comfort.
During her time at the naval air station, Kate Middleton engaged in various activities. She visited the traffic control tower, interacted with the staff, and conversed with a crew from an airborne Wildcat helicopter.
Kate also had the opportunity to sit inside a Merlin Mk4 helicopter, a crucial vehicle used by the Royal Marines for disaster relief globally. She also explored a Merlin MK2, designed for submarine hunting.
The Princess even tried flying a Wildcat MK2 in a simulator. This sophisticated simulator allows aircrew to practice flying over land or landing on ships, enhancing their training.
